Aldeia em foco
Aldeia em Foco is an innovative project focused on bringing specialized ophthalmological care to indigenous communities in Brazil, carrying out health actions in villages and hard-to-reach regions and providing quality care to populations historically marginalized from the health system. Working with multidisciplinary teams composed of ophthalmologists, technicians, and health agents, the project travels through indigenous territories offering complete vision exams and free distribution of prescription eyeglasses. To handle the complexity and volume of these services, Aldeia em Foco needed a system capable of organizing the entire clinical flow: from patient registration with SUS (Brazilian Unified Health System) data and links to their villages, through each stage of ophthalmological exams, tonometry, retinography, dynamic and static auto-refraction, eye movement, subjective refraction, and biomicroscopy, to the issuance of prescriptions, referrals, optical prescriptions, and control of eyeglass delivery. GAFIT developed a web platform structured around a 12-step patient care workflow, with specific profiles for each type of professional—receptionists, technicians, doctors, and administrators—each with access to their assigned steps. The system also supports telemedicine, allowing healthcare workers in the field to register exams that are remotely analyzed by doctors, and generates digitally signed medical documents with QR codes for authenticity verification. With real-time monitoring dashboards and data export for reports, the project gained complete visibility into coverage, service efficiency, and each patient's history, ensuring that each person served has their care properly recorded, tracked, and completed.
